Scripture Union, Northern Ireland

Further Information & F.A.Q.

Our Camps have been running for many years in Northern Ireland. Each Camp runs a different programme that is uniquely tailored for the age group at camp. A brief outline of the typical activities for each camp can be viewed on the relevant Eventbrite booking page. This will give a flavour of what the camp looks like and may be subject to change.
Campers will be encouraged to give all activities “a go” but our leaders will never ask them to participate if they do not want to.

Activities are planned with safety and enjoyment in mind, in line with SUNI’s policies on Safeguarding, Health and Safety and GDPR (copies are available on request).

FAQ

What happens after I book?

You will receive an email confirmation from Eventbrite as receipt of your booking and your payment of the deposit. Within 2 weeks of your booking, you will receive an email from the Camp Leader(s)/Secretary. They will explain how to pay the final balance and will ask you for further information (via JotForm).

Who will be looking after my child?

All Missions are staffed by volunteers who are approved by SUNI. Teams of volunteers work under the supervision of voluntary team leaders who are carefully selected for their leadership abilities and experience and appointed to their role by the Council of SUNI.

All volunteers are trained according to SUNI’s procedures for Safeguarding children and young people, training covers the areas of: Health and Safety and Child Protection. Volunteers who handle personal information are also trained in our GDPR procedures.

Each Mission has its own qualified appointed person(s) for First Aid and all activities are carried out under careful and qualified supervision.

Will I have to pay for SU Camps?

Yes, all SU Camps have a fee attached. SU Camps are not run for profit, and all those who attend, including volunteers, share expenses. We try to charge as little as possible for each Camp however, we never want finance to be a barrier. Therefore, a Sponsorship Fund is available. For more info and to request sponsorship please contact us confidentially at campsponsorship@suni.co.uk.

How do I make contact with the Camp Leaders?

Each Camp has its own email account for corresponding with parents/guardians.
Please check your email regularly, including your junk mail folder and add suni.co.uk
to your ‘safe sender’ list.

Camp Leaders will contact all families directly to confirm booking, provide camp schedules and kit lists and to ask parents/guardians to complete a Consent and Medical Form, via JotForm.

What about insurance?

All SUNI Camps are covered by a Public Liability (3rd party) Insurance Policy.

Please note that some activities listed on the website may change due to insurance restrictions unknown at time of uploading onto the site.
In addition to the insurance cover that we provide, we advise everyone to take our cover against personal accident, cancellation and illness.

What if I have a Complaint?

We really hope your experience of SU Camps is a great one! However, if there is a problem we would like to know as soon possible so we can do our best to put it right. Please contact the Camp Leader in the first instance. If the problem is not dealt with to your satisfaction, please contact SU Staff at camps@suni.co.uk.

How do I raise a concern about safeguarding?

Please check out the Safeguarding page on our website to contact the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) for Camps and Missions.
