Scripture Union, Northern Ireland

Further Information & F.A.Q.

Our Camps have been running for many years in Northern Ireland. Each Camp runs a different programme that is uniquely tailored for the age group at camp. A full list of activities on offer is provided in the Camp description.

Campers will be encouraged to give all activities “a go” but our leaders will never ask them to participate if they do not want to.

With current Covid-19 restrictions in place, for 2021, we will be running Day Camps. These will run for three days and include many of the usual activities but at the end of each day, your child will return home.
Daily activities are planned with safety and enjoyment in mind, in line with SUNI’s policies on Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Covid Guidelines and GDPR (copies are available on request). Each Camp has its own qualified appointed person for First Aid, and all activities are carried out under careful and qualified supervision.

Who will be looking after my child?

All Camps are staffed by volunteers who are approved by SUNI and Access NI. Teams of volunteers work under the supervision of voluntary team leaders who are carefully selected for their leadership abilities and experience and appointed to their role by the Council of SUNI.

Will I have to pay for SU Camps?

Yes, all SU Camps have a fee attached.

SU Camps are not run for profit, and all those who attend, including volunteers, share expenses.

We try to charge as little as possible for each Camp however, we never want finance to be a barrier.

Therefore, a Sponsorship Fund is available. For more info and to request sponsorship please contact us confidentially at

What does the price include?

The price includes accommodation, all meals, activities and excursions. Travel to camps outside of Northern Ireland is also included.

Personal spending money is not included in the price. Most camps have a tuck shop, book stall or take a trip to nearby shops.

How do we make contact with the Camp Leaders?

Each Camp has its own email account for correspondence with parents/guardians.

Please check your email regularly, including your junk mail folder and add to your ‘safe sender’ list.

Camp Leaders will contact all families directly to confirm booking, provide camp schedules and kit lists and to ask parents/guardians to complete a Health and Transport form (parental permission and medical).

What about insurance?

All SUNI Camps are covered by a Public Liability (3rd party) Insurance Policy.

Please note that some activities listed in the brochure may change due to insurance restrictions unknown at time of print.

In addition to the insurance cover that we provide, we advise everyone to take our cover against personal accident, cancellation, illness and loss of luggage.

What are the Terms and Conditions for camp bookings?

Terms and Conditions –

All SUNI camps are covered by a Public Liability (3rd party) Insurance Policy. Please note that some activities advertised may change due to insurance or COVID restrictions unknown at the time of advertising. In addition to the insurance cover that we provide, we advise everyone to take out cover against personal accident, cancellation or illness.

Booking and Payment
Booking can be secured by following the online Eventbrite payment and booking procedures – including a separate JotForm to be completed for personal details and parental consent. If the camp is oversubscribed, we will place your child on a waiting list and you will be notified should a space become available. An email acknowledging the receipt of your Eventbrite payment indicates your booking has been accepted, but please also make sure you have completed the JotForm in order to complete the process and ensure parental consent.

Please note that the cost of the camp, as advertised, does not include a small Eventbrite fee, which will be added at the point of payment.

If the camp is cancelled by SUNI, refunds can be issued for the entire purchase. However, should you wish to cancel your booking, you can do so up to 7 days prior to the event by requesting a refund through Eventbrite. Please note that, in this case, the cost of the camp will be refunded, but not the small Eventbrite fee paid at the time of booking.

Scripture Union Reserves the Right to:
refuse any booking
alter or cancel a camp where necessary
ask a young person to leave the activity if their behaviour is incompatible with the general enjoyment and well–being of others. In these circumstances the parent or guardian will be informed, and collection arrangements must be made at their own expense.

Photographs and video
Sometimes photographs and video footage taken on SUNI activities are used in publicity materials and on the SUNI website (this may include social media channels). If you have any objection to photographs or video of your child being used for such purposes, please ensure you make this known at point of booking.

Data Protection
The information you have given us is held and used throughout the time of the activity. We do not share information with any other organisations. For insurance reasons this information will then be securely archived. To find out more about how we use your information please visit our Privacy Policy at

Email Addresses
If you have provided us with an email address the leader/secretary of your camp will email you important information relating to camp. Please ensure you check your email, including your junk mail folder, regularly (add to your ‘safe sender’ list). If you do not wish to receive important information by email, please do not supply us with an email address.

Please note that all those who attend SUNI activities are expected to fully comply with all relevant COVID guidelines and restrictions at all time. More information about our COVID procedures can be found on our website and any necessary specific guidance will be passed on to parents as appropriate.

What processes are being put in place for COVID safety?

All SU activities this summer are subject to COVID restrictions and guidelines as part of SUNI’s statutory requirement to undertake a risk assessment of Covid–19 and the mitigation measures that will be required. As a result, most of our activities will be running on a reduced capacity, non–residential basis – with appropriate social distancing and infection control measures in place. Volunteers will be fully briefed in all the necessary measures to be undertaken in order to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all involved.

A few practical things to note in order to help us do this well include:
Not attending an SU activity if you have any COVID symptoms
Avoiding congregating around drop–off and pick–up areas
Bringing a packed lunch (all volunteers and those attending day camps only)

As well as this, please follow all instructions given by the team leaders of the event, so that we can all stay safe this summer!
