Secondary
We are hearing encouraging stories from all over the country of what God is doing in and through the 100+ Scripture Union groups meeting in secondary level schools right across Northern Ireland. We have caught glimpses of this work through our daily visits to SU groups, being part of several groups weekends, and Making Your Mark 09.
We are dedicated to supporting and resourcing these groups as best we can, whether its through face to face visits, offering resources, giving advice, or organising special programmes and events.
Our continued purpose is to help teenagers encounter God, and to see them build a relationship with Him through His Word.
Here are some ways we support SU groups and their leaders:
SU Groups
We are passionate about young people connecting with God through a regular rhythm of bible reading and prayer. And so we are launching a brand new programme for SU groups in Secondary Schools this term.

The ten10 sessions will focus on the character of Daniel, and we desire that God will reveal more of Himself to those who participate, and that they will develop an intimacy with Him. We are developing a booklet to accompany the 3 sessions Rick will offer, to enable young people to do some follow up material.
The ten10 programme will culminate in the ten10 challenge where young people will sign up to a 10 week period of bible reading, during which we will interact with them through podcasts, email and text messages to help them along the way.
If you would like more information about it email rick@suni.co.uk
Other programmes
We want to offer face-to-face visits to SU groups across Northern Ireland, where we can lead a block of sessions from anything between 1 and 4 weeks. In these visits we can offer any of the following programmes:
Engaged
a 3-week programme helping pupils see the Bible with fresh eyes and helping them open up this book
Flicker or Flame
a 2-week follow up programme, focusing on hearing God’s voice and putting His words into action
The Real Jesus
up to 4 sessions can be offered using teaching, multimedia, group work and creative responses, all aimed at encountering the real Jesus.
Identity
all about helping young people find and discover their true identity in who God has made them to be.
Mixed with multimedia, pupil interaction and bible teaching from the front, these programmes are designed to provide the challenge to pick up the bible more regularly, but also to actually bring pupils face to face with the living pages of Scripture there and then in the midst of each session.
These programmes have been delivered in over 50 schools, involving both Junior and Senior SU groups. And through it all it’s our prayer that all over the country young people will encounter God in a very real way through the pages of Scripture. From the rooms of an SU group at lunchtime or after school, to the rooms of their homes as they pick up their bibles on their own.
Please get in touch if it would be helpful to you for us to come to your group and support you in this way.
