E100 http://www.suni.co.uk/news/2011/09/e100.php 10,000 young people reading through the Bible in 100 days - who would have thought?

It all starts on the 3 October!

This year SUNI, Summer Madness, and many other Christian groups and churches celebrated the role of the Bible in today's world - commemorating the 400 anniversary of thee KJV. One of the special initiatives launched here in NI was the Essential 100 Bible reading plan for young people which ‘goes live' online at www.e100chat.com on October 3rd.

This project takes the reader through the entire sweep of the story of the Bible in 100 ‘essential' readings. So, to encourage the widest possible participation in the programme a special book was printed with all of the texts drawn together from the N.I.V. - E100 Books.

10,000 of these E100 books arrived from the printers at the start of September and within a week all but a few hundred have were distributed across the many groups and agencies that are supporting the initiative.

Alongside the reading programme a web blog has been established for commentary and feedback, and there's even a Mobile App created for those wishing to join the campaign on the move. Over 30 local Bible teachers and Youth Pastors have agreed to blog some of their reflections on each of the passages and support young people as they grapple with the application of the story for their own lives.

For a complete list of all of those churches and agencies involved and further details of the E100 reading plan visit  www.e100chat.com

It is so exciting to see this massive uptake and the prospect of thousands of young people exploring together the central message and texts of the Bible.

Biblefresh http://www.suni.co.uk/news/2011/09/biblefresh.php Biblefresh

I am sure by this stage of the year you have heard of "Biblefresh" or even "E100". As 2011 is the 400th Anniversary since the publication of the King James Version of the Bible this presents a great opportunity for churches and Christian organisations to focus on the Word of God. Scripture Union Northern Ireland is delighted to be associated with this initiative as the Bible is at the core of our ministry.

Many churches throughout the country started the year by following the Scripture Union E100 Challenge. The E100, Bible Reading, Challenge is based around 100 carefully selected Bible readings (50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament) designed to give participants a good understanding of the overall Bible story from Genesis to Revelation. The 'E' stands for Essential and each of the Essential 100 readings ranges from a few verses to a few chapters.

Don't worry if you haven't got involved yet. There is still plenty of time left.  Why not check out some of the following links to find out more.

Leaders' Weekend 2011 http://www.suni.co.uk/news/2011/02/leaders_weekend_2011.php We had a fantastic weekend with our Camp and Missions Leaders in Castlewellan Castle in January.  Around 60 of our senior team members attended.

Bishop Ken Clarke and his wife Helen led our main sessions taking the themes of "Truths from Ruth" and "Lessons from the Lesser Knowns".  They also shared their stories and the role that SU has played in their faith development.  People really appreciated them just for who they are and it was a humble reminder of the influence that we as leaders have in the lives of children and young people.

Worship, teaching, seminars, business, lots of fun and lots of food were all part of the programme. One of the best things about the weekend is giving the leaders the chance to talk and share with each other about their plans for the summer ahead.

SU Camps and Missions have a fantastic group of leaders.  We can't wait to see them in action this summer!

Start of E100 http://www.suni.co.uk/news/2011/02/start_0f_e100.php By this stage of the year many of you have heard of Biblefresh. As 2011 is the 400th Anniversary of the Bible first being published in English (The King James Bible) several organisations have got together to help churches reconnect with the Bible in a fresh way.

Here at Scripture Union NI we are promoting E100 Bible Reading Challenge. This Challenge is based around 100 carefully selected Bible readings, 50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament. The ‘E' stands for Essential and each of the Essential 100 readings ranges from a few verses to a few chapters.

February sees the start of the SUNI Staff taking on the E100 Challenge. We're looking forward to rediscovering some familiar verses and maybe seeing a different viewpoint from older if not wiser eyes. We're excited about the opportunity each week will bring, during Staff Prayers to discuss the relevant passages of that week. We can't wait to see how God will challenge, inspire and encourage us, individually and as a staff over the next 100 days.

Why don't you join us in our journey?

You can find out more about E100 and download the reading plan at www.e100challenge.org.uk .

You can also follow the progress of our Staff by reading our daily blog at www.e100suni.wordpress.com .

ReSource http://www.suni.co.uk/news/2010/11/resource_.php From classrooms at lunchtime to assembly halls or lecture theatres after school, SU leaders spend registrationtime leading groups, building relationships, opening the Bible, organising trips, communicating truth, praying, giving and listening. They are part of a quiet revolution, making an impact in the lives of children and young people right across our country.
To acknowledge this and also to invest in people like this, Scripture Union NI ran a brand new initiative to begin the school year. Re-source was our first ever SU Leaders Conference and was held at Belfast Bible College in August 2010.
Re-source was a day to inspire & equip SU leaders in Primary, Post-primary and Special Schools across Northern Ireland - through a host of workshops, showcases, teaching, stories and displays, all aimed at better resourcing those teachers and volunteers who take a lead in their groups.

And we were delighted to welcome David Shepherd, Principal of Belfast Bible College, as our keynote speaker for the day. He inspired us all about the call of Jesus to draw alongside the 'little children' and we were challenged to be like Him in 'stooping low'.session 1

Here's what some of those who took part said:

‘A really helpful and enjoyable day! Well organised and a great variety of topics covered by an excellent team of workers.'

‘A very useful and inspiring conference.'

‘Fabulous content delivered in manageable chunks.' seminar 1

‘Great to share ideas and find out about and buy / order new resources.'

‘I really enjoyed the chance to meet SU leaders from other local schools.'

‘Really inspiring day, lots of ideas to try out - thank you!'

‘The raspberry scones were delicious.'

Shine is a brand new initiative organised by both Crown Jesus Ministries and Scripture Union NI. With over 40 schools taking part, the impact across the country can be massive!
